Culinary Associate / CCC Cooking Teacher - Summer Swarthmore
The Chester Children’s Chorus seeks a Culinary Associate / Cooking Teacher for its 2026 Summer Learning Program, which runs from Monday, June 22 through Thursday, July 23. Founded in 1994 by Dr. John Alston, the Chester Children's Chorus (CCC) provides rigorous music education to Chester, Pennsylvania students (grades 3-12). All CCC students are invited to attend the six-week CCC Summer Learning Program on the Swarthmore College campus. Students participate in daily choral music instruction, dance, art, academic and physical education classes. As a member of the Dining Services department, the Culinary Associate will support the Chester Children’s Chorus by developing and leading a hands-on cooking curriculum for participating students. This role combines culinary skill with youth education, emphasizing creativity, safety, and engagement. The instructor will design age‑appropriate lessons, write menus, prepare recipes, and teach fundamental cooking techniques in a supportive learning environment. The Culinary Associate will also be responsible for ordering ingredients and supplies in coordination with the Culinary Procurement Manager, ensuring all purchasing aligns with program needs. This position requires strict adherence to food safety standards, equipment sanitation, safe food‑handling practices, and consistent supervision to maintain a safe environment for all students.

As a member of the Dining Services department, the Culinary Associate will work in any of the following stations depending on the schedule or need of the department roles: Cook, Pizza Cook, Commissary or Baker. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, having a passion for food, enjoying being part of an energetic team and the opportunity to make a difference in the student’s dining experience on Swarthmore’s campus. This is a 9-month position, working between the months of August through May. Ensuring the timely meal production for a college dining program under the direction of the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef. Preps ingredients and cooks or bakes menu items according to standard recipes. Ensures that food production meets the departmental standards of quality, taste, creativity, presentation, and variety. Responsibilities include assisting with execution of menu items, food safety and the proper sanitation of all kitchen equipment.
